I’ve never bought actual jeans for myself, only the stretch denim from the “Fat Lady” stores. I went to Walmart and the case with shelves was full of jeans. True, there was a sizing chart above, it but there were so many pairs, colors, lengths etc.....I got so overwhelmed that I almost went into a panic attack and had to leave the store. Then I went back a few days later, after my daughter told me to look for a short zipper. This time I went by the racks of hanging jeans and just felt hot and frightened at all those jeans jumping out at me because I’ve never had much of a choice. You see, my original size was a 24 and I needed to hem and roll down the waist on each pair. I again, had to leave the store, without jeans.
The following week I went to 2 department stores and asked for assistance from the clerks. These young ladies were so helpful. I ended up with size 10 jeans and was beaming. The following week I wore a pair to Dr Liu’s office and Claudia said that they were still too big and to try a size 8 petite. BINGO!!!!
My daughters kept saying, “Mom, you should have FUN shopping!” But in reality I was having absolutely no FUN shopping and just dreaded the thought.
Now, it feels so odd to walk into a store and the clerk mention, “Shouldn’t you be in the petite department?” Wait and see........it feels so good to walk into shops other than the “Fat Lady” stores in the Mall and not have the feeling like everyone is staring at this short fat lady trying to buy clothing. Or, the advertisement on the bag telling the world that I’m fat and can only shop in those particular stores.
I’ve lost almost 80 pounds, have been guided to the correct department, enjoy trying on clothing and having such a CHOICE. Yes!! I now have FUN shopping.
I am so happy to have had Dr Carson Liu perform my Lap Band surgery. At 62 years of age, I feel like I have a whole new chance at life with no more diabetes. My daughters, family and friends are so excited at the results. My own sister, whom I haven’t seen in a few years, went to the airport to pick up her neighbor, but was surprised by her husband, that I was actually the passenger being picked up, not the neighbor..... we were a few feet apart and she didn’t recognize me. What an emotional experience we both had. This sister is on the East Coast and my daughters are in the Midwest. Dr Liu has spoken to her and my daughters, answering questions or concerns throughout my weight loss program. Dr Liu and his staff have been so supportive for me. He has truly gotten to know me as a person. I don’t think that I would have had this same relationship with another surgeon. Dr Liu is tops in my book.
Get ready to shop till you drop girls and guys!!!!
