At 57 years old, I found myself stuck in a chair, staying home, unable to walk without a cane, panting with short walks and feeling sorry for myself. I have grandchildren who need me, I told myself. I really felt a great urge to get healthy. It’s a hard and tiring life living inside your body and not enjoying the life out and all around you. I wish I had realized that many years earlier. So I started my quest for a healthier extended life. I had been on so many diets over and over again. Weight Watchers, Atkins, Phen Phen etc… Only to achieve short term weight loss and much long term discouragement.
My fist investigation was gastric by-pass. I was introduced to a doctor at UCLA and given a brochure with different statistics. Yes there are successes but there are also people dying from complications and many become seriously ill. I felt rejected and knew I could not possibly put myself in a statistics pool.
At a visit to my medical doctor, he informed me of another patient of his, obese who had Gastric Band procedure done by an L.A. doctor named Dr. Liu. I called this patient and he informed me of what a life saving procedure he had done (Gastric Banding) and how good and well he was doing. He highly recommended the procedure and Dr. Liu. So I went for an interview to find out what the procedure was about. I immediately became excited about this non-invasive procedure. After months of getting ready, I attended some support group meetings and saw much happiness and success.
Dr. Liu’s cheerful and helpful staff and the sincere care he gives. He has given me the support and confidence I was looking for. It has been two years and 138 pound loss! The procedure was done laparoscopically with a one day stay at the hospital.
I now walk without a cane, exercise with water aerobics 4 days a week, travel, feel great and am enjoying my new life with my family and friends. I am satisfied and feel no hunger with my lighter controlled meals. Hunger is not on my mind as it was before the surgery.
I feel blessed and would like to thank the wonderful staff and special Dr. Liu for all their support and God above for each and every new day.
Thank you for helping me to live life to the fullest.
Thank you,
Eileen Methwin
